About This Course

This is an intermediate proficiency course which exposes students to basic communication skills in an integrated manner, using the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Particular emphasis is placed on developing oral communication skills. The grammar and vocabulary aspects of the language are also reviewed. The course provides a variety of language tasks and activities to develop students' interpersonal communication skills.

• Reading will form part of our study. Learners will be exposed to a variety of different reading materials. Each of these materials will contain vocabulary and grammar structures that are needed for success in everyday speaking situations. The reading materials will increase in difficulty as learning progresses.
• Writing in English is encouraged from the very first day. Each writing assignment will be based on the reading material from our online classes. Learners will be encouraged to expand on their ideas.

• A communicative approach will be used. All four skills (speaking, reading, listening & writing) will be practiced.
• Enough interaction will be accorded to ensure complete comprehension of the course.
• Virtual lessons will be conducted according to agreed schedules.
• Students will also be offered guidance in self-study and set learning practice tasks.

Participation

• Participation includes:
• Regular online attendance through Skype/Zoom/Telegram etc.
• Prompt completion of all reading/assignments and assessment.
• It is estimated that within 5 months, the contents of this Programme will be mastered.
• A concentrated study of at least 4 hours per week is recommended.
