About This Course
In an increasingly international world, being able to communicate in English is nowadays a
necessity in social, professional and business life. Competence in English creates an increasing
range of business, travel and leisure opportunities, opening doors to international
communication.
Grammar is without a doubt one of the most daunting aspects of the English language, an area
riddled with complexities, inconsistencies, and contradictions. It has also been in a state of flux
for pretty much its entire existence. For native speakers of English, as well as for those learning
it as a new language, grammar presents a very serious challenge to speaking and writing both
accurately and effectively.
This program will provide a clear, unambiguous, and comprehensive source of information that
covers all the relevant topics of English grammar, while still making it easy to understand and
enjoyable to learn.
Learning how the English language works will enhance your engagement with speech and
writing, from the books you read, to the e-mails you write, to the conversations you have with
friends and strangers alike.
The rules of grammar for a language learner are like the rules of the road for a driver. In order
to be able to drive properly and maneuver with other drivers, you have to know the rules that
everyone goes by. Naturally, some people break the rules and make driving difficult for other
drivers. This is true of language, too. If you follow the rules of grammar, you can express
yourself clearly. But if you fail to observe those rules, people may find it difficult to understand
you or they may even misunderstand you entirely. So it's really very important to understand and
use correct grammar.
People may decide to learn English for many different reasons, but whether you learn English so
you can travel, study, work or even just to understand your English community; it is a great
language to have under your belt!
